Action, Fit and Finish:

Gibson Les Paul Studio Plus

Overall: 4/5 Stars
Price: About $1500
Value: 5/5

Features: 4/5
Like most Les Paul’s, this comes with a mahogany body, flamed maple top (AA grade, in this case), two humbuckers (490R and 498T), and a Tune-o-Matic bridge.  The desert burst finish is phenomenal, and really lets the grain of the maple show through.  Unlike the higher-end LP’s, this one does not have binding, and the fretboard is rosewood, instead of ebony, but that’s really no big deal.

Action, Fit and Finish: 5/5
This guitar came straight from the factory, and was amazingly set up.  The action is very low, but string bends of up to two whole steps without fretting out have been achieved, which is pretty incredible.  The finish, as mentioned, is great, and is without any sort of flaw.  The gold hardware was shined, and the whole guitar looked great when it came out of the case.

Sound: 4/5
Compared to other humbuckers, these two are a little weak, but tone comes through in buckets!  This is the classic rock and roll sound, especially if you use this in combination with a Marshall amp, but best of all if you’ve got a half-stack waiting to blast the neighbors with!  Sounds great, and thanks to the set neck, sustains forever.

Overall: 5/5
This is easily the highest priced guitar I own, and the one that I take the best care of.  I love having it around, and while it’s not my first choice to bang around on in the basement, whenever I pull it out, people never fail to comment on it, and they always want to play it – sometimes I even let them!
