Fender FM 100H Head and 4x12 Cabinet:
Price: $500 Overall: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Features: 5/5
Comes with 100 Watts, solid state, two channels with individual EQ, master reverb, effects loop, footswitchable channels. Cab holds 4 12” speakers, specially designed for this head. Standard half-stack features, but at a very good price, and typical Fender quality. Cab came with casters to help move it around.
Action, Fit and Finish:5/5 Both came nicely covered in black Tolex, with no rips, tears or scuffs.
Sound: 3/5 This is a nice amp, and did what I needed, but the tone was not warm enough for me. The reverb does a nice job of adding depth to the sound. The Drive channel is not that great, and the More Drive option did nothing but cause feedback, and not a pleasant kind. The clean channel is very nice, and this amp takes to pedals very well. I was using this amp to amplify my Line6 PODxt Live, and it did it well, but I wish it had had a warmer tone.
Overall: 4/5 It’s a solid amp, and I never had any problems with it performing. It was always there for me when I needed it. However, like most half-stacks, it is very heavy! The casters come in very handy. If you’re looking for an amp that will provide you with volume, this is a good amp. Don’t expect it to define your tone, however, you’re going to need pedals, especially an OD or distortion pedal.
